I founded Connect, a studio that designs and builds learning platforms, smart tests and interactive course material for language schools, universities and teacher training. Twenty years of teaching, teacher training, examining and writing material went into it, and still do.
What Connect builds
Learning platforms
A whole course in one place: the timetable, teaching practice, feedback, written work, records and the paperwork. Connect for CELTA and Connect Lite are two of them.
Smart tests
Placement and diagnostic tests with CEFR-aligned speaking and writing, marked against clear criteria, with an examiner always making the final decision.
Interactive material
Input sessions trainees do rather than sit through, self-study sets, flip cards, recorded voices, tasks that check themselves. Built as software, not handouts.
Exam preparation
Original IELTS and TOEFL material, speaking and writing rubrics, and scoring frameworks that keep marking consistent from one examiner to the next.
Course content
Curriculum, lesson sequences and materials written to clear learning aims, with purposeful practice and feedback that is useful to the learner.
Made to measure
The systems an organization's own work runs on, from enquiries and bookings to records, built around how it already works rather than configured from a template.
Learning needs shape the technology. Every build starts from the course, its aims and its people, and keeps the teacher’s and the examiner’s judgment at the center. The software supports a decision; it does not make it.
Teaching and training
Twenty years in English language teaching and teacher training, in higher and adult education. A CELTA tutor since 2011, with Train-the-Trainer work and the DELTA. Teacher training and standardization for Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Pearson, the British Council, Turkey’s Ministry of Education and universities.
Examining
A former IELTS Speaking and Writing examiner and Cambridge Speaking examiner, with years of standardization and monitoring. That is where Connect’s tests come from: criteria a marker can apply the same way twice, and a person making the final call.
Content
Teacher-training content, original IELTS and TOEFL preparation, assessment documents, rubrics and scoring frameworks, and whole courses from aims to feedback. The same work, now built as software people use rather than pages they read.
